That's Y Food was set up in Coimbatore in 2002 as a fine-dine North Indian restaurant by three sisters: Renu, Ranjana and Rangeeta.

Often people ask us, why "That's Y Food"? Sitting around thinking of starting a restaurant, we were a little apprehensive. But then we thought, 'why not'? So we thought of ‘Why not Food’! But then that sounded like a question, whereas we were looking to provide an answer: That's why food!

The first four months saw us doing only dinner sales. We were still finding our feet, and finding ways of providing a better experience for the customers. Over time, the place gained in popularity, and we gained in confidence, to go all out. The restaurant now has an extensive lunch and dinner menu, with 60 covers. It remains closed on Wednesdays (yes, we do need to take a break, even from the delicious food, every now and again).

That’s Y Food completes five years in December 2007. During this five year journey we’ve seen a lot of ups and downs and made some good friends along the road as well. Thanks to them – our patrons, our friends, our guests – that the restaurant is thriving and has earned quite a reputation for itself in Coimbatore as the place to go to.

It's a one of a kind restaurant in Coimbatore, serving authentic North Indian and Mughlai cuisine, the way it should be made. Some of our specialities are the Non-Veg Tikka, the ‘White Devil’ and the ‘Blue One’ among drinks, while the ‘Mud Souffle’ dessert is celebrated as far as Bombay, from where it is regularly ordered. Many celebrities have paid us a visit, including Narain Karthikeyan, the Tamil actors Madhavan and Surya, and the billiards player Pankaj Advani.
